You lift dumbbells and kettlebells to tone your triceps, so why not insert and hang a weight from your vagina?
…That’s the thought process, at least, behind holistic sex coach and vaginal weightlifter Kim Anami’s mind-boggling and cringe-worthy #ThingsILiftWithMyVagina Instagrams. In each of the photos, she poses with a different object dangling from her nether region: a pomegranate, a bunch of bananas, donuts, a surfboard.
The clear takeaway: She has one jacked set of ladyparts.

The Instas are Anami’s latest promotion of her “vagina kung fu” program. Ringing in at $500, the at-home eight-week course is designed to strengthen vaginas through weightlifting, meditation, and lessons on anatomy and reflexology.
The result, according to Anami’s website: tighter vaginas and stronger vaginal orgasms. (Anami also claims the lessons can help you eradicate PMS, improve fertility, and lift both your breasts and the bags under your eyes—but that’s a whole other matter.)

Anami says on her website that, with the right training, every vagina can open beer bottles and shoot Ping-Pong balls through the air.
While those are both activities in which this vagina would rather not partake, it turns out that there are some merits to training your vagina with weights, according to ob-gyn Alyssa Dweck, M.D., coauthor of V Is for Vagina. “In some women, particularly in those who have had vaginal deliveries, the vagina can feel relaxed, weak, and sometimes loose,” says Dweck. Most of the time, traditional Kegels can tighten things back up, but in particularly stubborn cases, she recommends her patients perform those Kegels…with vaginal weights.
Yes: Vaginal weights are a real, doctor-approved thing. And while they are often suggested to women who have pushed watermelon-sized babies through their vaginas, they can help strengthen the vaginal walls—and sexual pleasure—of virtually any woman, says Dweck.
Luckily, you don’t have to hang produce from your crotch to strengthen your vagina. (If you decide to, though, we won’t judge.)

You can find a ton of vaginal weight sets online. VagaCare, for instance, is a vaginal cone that you insert and can hook to an included set of small weights. Meanwhile, the Je Joue Ami Balls are weighted silicon balls that are inserted directly into the vagina. They come in 1.9-ounce, 2.6-ounce, and 3.5-ounce sizes. Once you can carry around one weight for a while, you move to the next one. Squeeze and release.
Still, lifting even a 3.5-ounce ball is very different than lifting a surfboard. (Or lifting a 31-pound weight if you’re Tatyana Kozhevnikova, the Guinness World Record holder in vaginal weightlifting.) That’s why, if you decide to go the vaginal weightlifting route, Dweck recommends starting with the smallest weight possible, performing 20 Kegels a day with that weight, and moving up in small increments only after you can lift that weight with minimal effort.
After all, if pulling a hammie is bad, imagine how bad it hurts to pull your vajayjay.
